I got a message that I violated rule 6 in this post.

Yet I was discussing a transcode I made for personal use of a Blu-Ray I own. I even sent the moderator a photo of the Blu-Ray with his post on the screen in the background. Why would this be a rule 6 violation?

So run your original once more through your BD Ripper then through BD-Rebuilder... No need to "unflac" it or other ilogic conversions ...

I don't have near the disk space to backup my whole collection without transcoding. I calculated all my DVD's and Blu-Rays will take about 5 terabytes if I don't at least transcode my Blu-Rays. Being typically an 8-10 hour process I don't want to go through it again if possible.

Unfortunately by publicly questioning the strike it can not be removed. Have a look at the sanctions (http://forum.doom9.org/sanctions.htm) page.

Why would this be a rule 6 violation
Your post looked like one because you said "I've got an mkv". All you had to do was PM neuron2 to clarify that it wasn't a downloaded file and he would re-open it.

I did and I got the rule violation notice hours AFTER I PM'd him the photo. The bottom line is there is no way for anyone to tell for sure whether you are using or making illegal copies. It's pure guesswork. There's no proof either way. In my opinion the policing is a waste of time. All these tools discussed here can be used both legally and illegally. If the site was really that legally conscious they would not provide a forum to discuss things like decrypting in the first place, especially on a website named DOOM9 ??? That's just my opinion of course. Thank goodness they don't delete posts or lock threads just for posting your opinion.
I'd like to point out one thing. Someone's opinion as to whether what I do with my Blu-Rays is logical or not is essentially irrelevant to the rule, as the rule doesn't say you can't discuss illogical use of your Blu-Rays. It's a matter of opinion. What is illogical to one may be logical to another. The bottom line is I own the Blu-Rays and I'm free to do with them whatever I want for personal use and therefore am in compliance with Rule 6. I'm sure some would say just go buy 2 more 2TB drives. But I see it as an illogical waste of money. lol :)

This whole thread is a rule 16 and 17 violation. Strike issued and thread closed.
