videocard for video processing?

seems that modern videocards are designed for gamers.

exist any videocard that allow to apply filters to videos in real time? something that would allow you to use (for example) these avisynth scripts with the GPU?

I dont know that kind of processor uses the modern TVs that have framedoubling/colour enhancement/sharp... but Im sure that not so much as gaming videocards

I only have experience with nvidia cards doing anything like that, at least the nvidia linux driver (vdpau) can do some color corrections, deinterlacing and scaling effects. This is only for decoding and no custom scripts can be used.

Thats not quite true as you can write avisynth plugins that use cuda or shaders. look at DGNVtools or fft3dgpu as good examples

thanks for the info.. its really nice that this 3D videocard that I have here running always at 40ºC can be used for something more than play games
