I'm not sure how this virus entitled "Antivirus Vista 2010" got into my computer.
I saw the fake windows virus shield in the task bar, I would constantly get pop ups from the virus. I first ran scans with AVG free version and removed the infections found. Didn't work, the pop ups were still there, I ran a multiple scans with Spyware Doctor removed all infections/viruses found, still the virus remained. I continued to run scans, I came back to the computer a couple hours later and the scans found more viruses. Though I couldn't delete them, because the computer failed to respond, I had no choice other than restarting the computer.
When windows was finished rebooting, Antivirus Vista 2010 appears to have been removed, but alas a new problem presented itself. I can't open or run any applications or programs, not even an internet browser or System Restore. Every time I try to run/open a program the "Open With" dialog appears, sometimes I receive the "Application not found" error, therefor I cannot run Cmd. I've searched for solutions, I've tried every solution I've come across with reformatting being the only exception.
I would rather not reformat my drive, if there are any solutions I would love to hear them! And also, I have three hard drives on my computer would I need to reformat each drive to completely rid my computer of the virus? Help would be immensely appreciated.
