View Full Version : X264 Crashes with AVCSource

I recently recorded a few Olympic Games clips on our satellite receiver. Now after transferring them to my PC and trying to convert them to h264 I got the following problems.

I split the original file into multiple files to cut out anything unwanted using TS Splitter then I used DGAVCIndex on one of the resulting files to create a .dga file I could open with AVCSource() ...

Everything worked fine so far but x264.exe (multiple versions including latest build from x264.nl) always crashes on me after 270-330 frames are encoded without displaying any error.

I thought that maybe the splitting was at fault but I got the same result with the original unsplitted file. The only way I can get x264 to accept the file without crashing is using DirectShowSource() but that doesn't work on the splitted files for whatever reason unless I run them through the Convert Process of VLC Player first (which also doesn't work for every file but they still play fine in MPC with ffdshow) ... probably something is broken in the split files but I wonder why it also fails with the original file which works perfect for all other things.

Hope someone knows what could be going wrong here...

Have you tried FFMS2 (in AviSynth or by using x264's built-in demuxer)?

Xport (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1255343#post1255343) could also help with HD captures. Use ProjectX to demux PAL SDTV.
