This thing is giving me trouble.
First off the movie is 3.5 hours long. The opening credits are fullscreen while the rest of the movie is widescreen so I guess I'll have to encode the whole thing fullscreen. Also its an oliver stone film, so there are a lot of different video sources which leads to quite a bit of interlaced frames that made it through the editing.
And just to add to the fun its a pretty old dvd, its a double sided single layer disc I believe. The image quality is pretty bad, so I'll have to play with some filters for a while (suggestions?, I'm thinking smart smoother but I'd prefer to avoid the slower vdub filters if possible). I think I read that the directors cut dvd is a better transfer but I don't have access to it.
I think I'm going to have to do a manual ivtc with tmpgenc, again I'd like to avoid having to convert to RBG so I'll fool around with decomb first so see if I get any luck with it.
When I'm working with this movie all I can think of is how much of a pain natural born killers was :)
Anyone thats worked with this film I'd love to hear your suggestions.
