I put a check mark on Do not convert DTS to AC3 (Bluray only) and my output is Ac3.

What did I do wrong?

Movie Star Trek next generation.
All audio unchecked except trueHD.

Is that why?

Regards,

PS. I'm a 1st time user.

I would need more information. Are you outputting to BD-5/9? If so, then you can't leave HD in. Do you have "Strict AVCHD" checked? If so, it has to be converted because the AVCHD standard doesn't support DTS...

BD/9 is the output...that answers my question...thanks
"Strict AVCHD" checked? No it's not but that also answers my question.

jdobbs...thanks for responding...you're a great guy!
Congrats on this wonderful piece of masterpiece.

Sincere regards,

From a DVD-RB supporter of the past of course.

Hmmm.... if you are going to DVD-9, though, without "Strict" checked, you should have gotten DTS (only the DTS core as opposed to HD). I'll check and see if there's anything going on. Was it a full backup or movie-only? I'd also like to see the log if you have it.

My most recent test, a full backup to BD-5, on a source that had DTS HD Master Audio, was converted to DTS.
I did not have Strict AVCHD for BD-5/9 Movie-Only checked, but it was a full backup.
I did have Do Not Convert DTS to AC3, Do Not Reencode AC3, and Keep HD Audio for BD-25 encoding checked.
So, for me, it appears to be working correctly. :)
Also, did the backup over again, this time unchecking all audio encoding options except Use 448 kbps for AC3 encoding, and the files were all converted to 448 kbps AC3.
And, the results for both, tested on DVD+RW media, worked perfectly when playing back to my Sony S360.

jdobbs,

1st of all...sorry about the delay in my response.

2nd. I do not have the log...sorry I delete it.
My settings are:
General encoding:
nothing checked

Audio Encoding Options:
1, 2 and 4th option checked
3rd option unchecked

Video Encoding Options:
nothing checked.

Movie:
Star trek Next Generation
DTS trueHD

Output set to:
Target size BD-9

My final outcome is ac3.

I don't know why and certainly don't understand why.
Sorry...that's the best I can tell you.

It's either DTS HD Master Audio or Dolby True HD, not DTS trueHD!
This movie is English Dolby TrueHD 5.1, and would have a Dolby Digital core, which is AC3.
So you did nothing wrong!

So you did nothing wrong! So if it is TrueHD -- it should rightly be DD 5.1 with the settings as they are -- because that is what the core of TrueHD would be.

No apology needed. That's why we all come here. It's not your fault that there are too many special circumstances for everything... :)
