Need help with .ts to Blu-Ray for PS3

I'm running into some problems burning a Blu-Ray disc, I figure I'm missing something simple here but I'm hoping someone can help. I have several .ts streams recorded off my Cable DVR (1080i, AC3 audio) that I've been trying to burn to Blu-Ray for playback in my ps3. I read several threads on other forums that stated using TsMuxer would work, however I still get the This Video cannot be played error...I also tried TMPG DVD Authoring Works 4 Blu-Ray mode, burning a BD-R DL disc using it.

In both cases I burned the BDMV & Certificate folders to BD-R's, and in both cases the PS3 recognizes the disc as a BDMV but won't play it. I have several homemade Blu-Ray discs that play fine on my PS3, but I didn't author them. They were recorded by someone with an HD-PVR, and thus are AVCHD instead of MPEG2-TS.

Is there any way to convert these .ts streams to something that WILL play on the PS3, or am I going to have to convert the .ts to AVCHD and burn it that way? If so what is the best way to go from .ts to AVCHD without sacrificing quality?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you post the information from mediainfo for these .ts files. If they're mpeg2 you can try to rename them and pass them tru tsmuxer again... Or use HDTVtoMPEG2 (http://www.deanbg.com/public/HDTVtoMPEG2.exe)...

You could load the .ts file in tsMuxeR, select 'Blu-Ray" as the output, and save that to a new folder. This should now be Blu-Ray compliant. Test to BD-RE first to confirm.
I have done several of these, captures from my HD DVR, to either BD-5 or BD-RE, but have found that the results will very, and the interlacing lines will be distracting. I have reencoded them with MeGui, converting them to 1080P or 720P, 23.976fps and the results are practically indistinguishable from the original.

Capsbackup that's exactly the process I've been using, input the .ts into TsMuxeR, select Blu-Ray, then burn. I also tried it with TMPG Authoring Works as I mentioned, neither version will play on the PS3.

If you provide a short sample I'll test it in my PS3. I assume your console is NTSC version, right?

If you have an external USB HDD you can try multiAVCHD and create AVCHD folder without re-encoding the video.

I'll try to upload a sample this afternoon, I appreciate it. I know about the USB Hard Drive option, I really want them as Blu-Rays so they can be shared with others however.

I'm still trying to get a clip to upload.. but a follow-up to my own post, what is the best tool (or method) for converting these MPEG2-TS files to AVCHD? Again I want TRUE Blu-Ray discs, burned to BD-R's. I know AVCHD recorded BD-R play fine on my player, so I'm leaning towards that method. But I want to convert and maintain as much of the quality as I can.

You could try MeGui, and use either a standalone Blu-Ray or AVCHD template. MultiAVCHD is another option.
I would recommend doing a few short test clips and burn to DVD RW just to see if you can get them to play. ( just use trim command with Avisynth..trim(0, 4800). With MeGui, you could also convert the clip to 23.976fps, deinterlace and make sure it is 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720. I have done many this way, with excellent results.

I tried MultiAVCHD this weekend and burned it to BD-R again, no change but I didn't transcode. I think my only option is going to be to transcode the original MPEG2-TS .ts to AVCHD and author them from that. I know that plays from my other discs.

Need some help folks. Trying to get my 2-yr-old .TS recordings off of cable onto 25GB blu-ray discs (crucial fave films that I'm sure won't see B-ray release for a few years). I feel like I'm ALMOST there, sooo close. But--

Having trouble getting my .TS files that I've 'successfully' authored to Blu-ray using Toast 9 in OS 10.6x to play back properly on my PS3. The software handles the MUX and bypasses any secondary transcoding, makes a simple menu and the burn of the MPEG-2 transport stream seems to go without a hitch...until you play it back that is. PS3 playback is riddled w/ unrepeatable/intermittent picture freezes, audio continues and then the pic jumps and catches up. A/V quality is otherwise good and chapter jumps and menu functionality works. Playback stream taps out at only around 9Mbs, so I wouldn't think it's 'maxxing out' the PS3 player bandwidth...but funny thing is, the disc plays back pretty good in a dedicated set-top. What is it?

Specifics on system running Toast 9 w/ HD plug-ins: Mac Pro, 2x Quad-core 2.8ghz Intel Xeon CPU, 10 GB Ram, OS 10.6x (Snow Leopard), ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video card, 200 GB free hard drive space, recently updated 3/10/10. Did a second playback test--same intermittent pic freeze on 2nd PS3; Third playback test, no freezes, only subtle intermittent macroblock/hitches on a Sony set-top bluray player (Model BDP-S370).

It might be something wrong with your files, do they play ok on a PC? I javen't tested the 370, but all others, older ones (up to 360), did play EVERYTHING I've thrown in.....

EU (DE) models, don't know the US ones ....
