Video editing - Speed up and slowing down?

Hello Doom9ers,

I've got a video and I need to add few touches to it, Like speeding up few parts, slowing down another, adding music and stuff.

But I'm not sure what video editing applications are good for these tasks.

I've Vegas and Adobe Premiere but those are waay advanced to me.

Therefore, if I were you, after spending a few hundred to several hundred dollars on them (depending on the versions you purchased) I'd certainly make the effort to determine how to use them...

What I'm looking for right now is other ... easier video editing alternatives??
