thanks in advance for answering a first timers questions. Well, you could use MakeMKV but I guess I don't see the connection to BD Rebuilder... since it is a blu-ray backup package and there are no MKVs in blu-ray.

i was thinking of the iso files as well since i could not get bdrebuilder to work on some disks. So if i do not need to make them into mkv how do i play the movie only or save to dir files? sorry for the new be questions but we all have to start some where and i was told YOU are the ULTIMATE expert :)

BD-RB is used after ripping the disc with a Blu-Ray ripper, such as AnyDVD HD. There is no need to rip to ISO, since BD files on hard disc can be used just as well as an ISO. But thats your choice.
BD-RB will either make a movie only Blu-Ray file that you can burn to DVD media in an AVCHD file structure or burned to BD-R/RE as a Blu-Ray, or a full disc backup, burned most successfully to BD-R/RE media. Both can be played back on a standalone Blu-Ray player or PS3.
If you are playing back on a PC, the same steps can be used, or you could simply use tsMuxeR on the original ripped files and convert to a .ts file, which can be played back on a PC. No reencoding necessary.
If your goal is to convert a Blu-Ray disc to a movie only MKV file, jdobbs suggestion to use MakeMKV is one option, no reencoding necessary.
You could also rip the disc first, and use a different program, such as MeGui, to convert/reencode to MKV, reducing the original file size to your choice size.
So there are many options and opinions, but you will have to try several out and decide which works best for your desires.
But with just a little browsing in this forum and it's many members, you are sure to find what you are after. :p

i was forced to rip to iso on a couple of disks that bdrebuilder just would not do, no mater what i tried it just quit after the first step or even on one froze the PC. I guess as a new be i am just not making myself clear. How do i play the files i have created with bdrebuilder? i do not want to burn the disk ever just play from PC.

if i am reading your response correctly the tsMuxeR which i had to install to get dbrebuilder to work in the first place is the same program i use to now make the .ts file?

sorry if these are stupid questions and i do appreciate all the help.:stupid:

update: got all the files that were not iso to .ts format. thanks guys i will start a new thread on the problem i have with one movie that bdrebuilder does not seem to handle.

I have found no discs that BD Rebuilder won't do if they will rip with AnyDVD.
