Durring march intel will release this nice flick.
i7 980X 3,3 GHz with 6 cores.

How many threads sould I setup for x264 encode from full Blu-ray?

You don't have to set anything, leave auto. x264 will probably detect the number of threads automatically.
But why bother paying 1000$+ for a 6 core/12 threads when you can pay 300$ x 2 + 350-400$ for a workstation board, so you have 8 native cores ?

e.g. i7 860 4core 8 logic core with hyperthreading = 12 thread

Yeah... I don't see the appeal in a single socket. The only way I'd ever use these monsters is in a dual socket board. Better and cheaper to get two quad Xeons.

this one is hexacore wiht 6 cores so if I m right then
6core 12logic core with 18 threat for encoding.
Am I right?

Sounds right to me.
Leaving the threads at default should use 18 threads in this case.

Xeon W3520 is a single socket CPU. Will it really work on a dual socket board? You would need something like Xeon E5530 and then you will get two 2,4 GHz quad core at the same price as one i7 980X and you probably have to pay more for the motherboard compared to a single socket motherboard. I am not sure that the dual xeons will outperform the single 6 core CPU when building a system at the same price. I am not sure if the dual xeons can be overclocked, if so they may still be worth it.
