Hi guys, I normally never have any issues burning but for some reason I am having a real hard time with DL dvds. I own a Samsung SH-S223 dvd burner and I am using Verbatim DL-DVDS. I like to back up all of my movies and put the copies in binders to flip through and bring around me on vacations and stuff but for some crazy reason I cant seem to make a 1:1 of any of my dual layer movies.

Imgburn says cant make a backup of a copyrighted dvd?

DVDdecrypter makes an image fine and burns the image fine but the burnt dvd doesnt work on any of the 4 dvd players I tried them on.

So lastnight I tried using blindwrite, I am unsure if this app works or not simply because after about 30+minutes it was only at 3% read so I cancelled it. I purchased this burner because maximumpc has it listed on their best of the best section, I read around and noticed many people saying Verbatim are the best dual layer blanks to use so I am unsure what I am doing wrong here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you need full backups to take on vacations? Using a tool like DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip "Main Movie" only will usually get you a file that will fit to a standard DVD+R.

As far as the issue you mentioned with ImgBurn, it will not back up commercial disks, only burn files. Try ripping the full disk with the aforementioned DVDFab HD Decrypter, then burning the files with ImgBurn. Don't let it burn at "MAX" speed; select the slowest rated burn speed the media allows.

Yea its not so much just for vactions. I have a small cd/dvd binder that I put my favorite movie backups in and keep it with me. This way If i have to leave on business or even plan a trip I take it with me and I have them with me. I used to just make images and dtools them but now I just use my laptop while they play on the tv :)

Lastnight I tried anydvd, I wasnt even sure if I was using it right but it seemed to work fine. I tried the movie on 1 dvd player I will try on another dvd today to make sure. But I appreciate your help, I will check out dvdfab as well.

I'm not sure how/if you ripped the DVDs before. Was it possible with ImgBurn to copy copyrighted DVD-5? And now you can't use it because the DVDs are DVD-9?
