Hi

I am not an editing professional, but am just looking for a great player for my Windows Vista 32 machine.

I will only be using the single monitor.

I have a Dell ST2410 monitor, HDMI'd to an ATI HD4670 DDR3 1 Gig card.

So far I have Windows Media Player 11, QuickTime and DivX Player installed (all latest Versions).

I am looking for simple, minimal codecs, with outstanding performance that can play everything and that can EVR the video card.

Currently I cannot play DVD'd AVI's as windows is asking me to get the codec for it, such as PowerDVD.

Thanks to anyone who has input.

First read the forum rules again.

Then download VLC or MPC-HC.

Get the K-lite Codec Pack (http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm). Pick Media Player Classic HomeCinema (MPC-HC) during setup. It will include pwerdvd codec to play dvd's.

I Think KMPlayer (http://kmplayer.en.softonic.com/download#pathbar) best for Windows Vista & 7.
i use KMPlayer & Media Player Classic HomeCinema.
