Hey, I wonder, which produces better picture-quality, subme 9 or subme 10?
I assume it's subme 10, although I've seen many people still insisting on using subme 9.

I think is all a speed vs. quality factor. There is also preset "placebo" but the majority use "veryslow". If you are encoding Full-HD video the difference (from a time point of view) between subme 9/10 or preset placebo/veryslow (and other options too) is noticeable. If you want the max quality (ignoring the time) you can push all the settings to the max but be prepared to wait a lot.

@mp3dom: Ok, thanks. I didn't think there were any noticeable speed-difference between them. I should've tested that.

Hope you don't mind if I add one related question in your (this) thread. Anyone can share the estimated quality gain (%) by using subme 10 compared to subme 9?

Hmm...not sure 1-2% is the final quality/compression gain...it's maybe only the submotionestimation which has this gain.....

On foreman I got around 1%, and on a DVD source I got 2.4%.
