for the past 2 hours i've been googling around for a solution, i've tried many, but none worked.
i'm running windows 7, 64bit.

there's no empty registry in a folder named drivers32 (http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/7023/53782184.jpg)
and that's the only drivers32 folder in regedit.
I've installed the 64bit codec for x264, that didn't work
i've installed the 64bit codec pack, k-lite full.
i've tried registering some dll's

Holy hell how can I fix this, this is extremely frustrating.

VirtualDub will only show VFW and ACM codecs. What most players use for playback are DirectShow filters. Many people also refer to such filter as "codecs", but they are a different kind as what you need in VirtualDub.

My advise would be to use the 32-bit version of VirtualDub because more codecs exist in 32-bit form. Note that 32-bit software will work fine on 64-bit Windows.
Then just install a 32-bit codec pack that contains the ACM/VFW codecs that you need.

I think your linked image represents a view of 32-bit codecs (wow6432node), while the pasted is of what 64-bit VirtualDub sees.

I (again) think you could view your 64bit codecs in the same registry key if you just take out the wow6432 part.

Using 32bit version worked.
I knew the 32 version could run on 64bit, i just assumed using 64bit would be better.
