View Full Version : How to change language code/flag in BD/AVCHD material?

I have the following "problem":
I made copy with BD RB of "Nine Miles Down"
This title has two audio streams: English & German.
They are, however, both "flagged" as German (in the original material, not due to any flaw of BD RB).
Thus i'd like to change the incorrect language code from German to English but so far I have no idea if there is any tool which could do this (presumably) easy task or will i have to demux everything and extract chapters in order to use tsmuxer for the job of muxing it with proper flags?

I guess you can do it with BDedit (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125903) and edit the playlists with wrong language tags.

thank you for your reply, deank
trouble is: when I select the audio stream in bdedit and change the tag from ger => eng and save i see that index, movie and playlist file have changed and in the playlist part of bdedit the change has been made: it lists the second streams with the tag ENG now
in the clipinf part of bdedit, however, still shows both audio streams tagged as german and starting the title (on the pc - still not burned yet) with tmt3 i still see two entries GERMAN as audio streams
i'm burning to a re-writable this minute and will test the content on the bd player later to see if it makes any difference

@DK
Hi!
It will probably take about 5 minutes but, presuming you're referring to a "movie-only", I believe you should be able to simply drop the .M2TS file into tsMuxeR(GUI), highlight the mislabeled audiostream and change label to "eng" and save as (whichever is appropriate) "BluRay" or "AVCHD"...

you're right: it can be done within a couple of minutes
it is movie only so it is no big deal using tsmuxer with correct tags
but on the one hand i would have to take care of chapters manually but most of all i was curious whether or not something like "re-tagging" audio streams was possible with any tool available

If you load the wrongly created playlist file, .mpls, it will then load all the chapters for you. Then just change the name of the audio track that you want and create a new BluRay/AVCHD.

hmm, actually bdedit DID the job
as i said i burned the changed material to a rewritable and the bd player named one stream as "deu" and the other one "eng" so i can say: mission accomplished
i dont understand, however, why the softwareplayer did NOT?
why did tmt3 label the streams "deu", where does it get these pieces of information from?

i didnt know i could also load an mpls file in tsmuxer - will have to test this
thanx for the advice!

Language information is stored both in playlist (mpls) and clip (clpi) files. Players should honor the information in the playlist file.
This is one of the reasons I (and other developers) prefer users to do their tests/reports with standalone players and not with software ones. :)

i couldnt agree more, deank and that's why i burned the material to a bd-re already when posting the first impressions with bdedit and tmt3 but still i was more than surprised with this outcome

i just checked the clpi file: it was NOT changed by bdedit and was still the same
