Is my BD Slow?

I've got what I thought is one of the best Blue-Ray Readers/Writers out right now, the Pioneer BDR-205 12X drive. When I rip using MakeMKV, it reads at about 2x (8M/s). So is it a limitation of my CPU processing the BD or is that typically the fastest you can rip off any drive? There's no encoding going on so I'm a bit surprised.

Well the drive isn't riplocked. It can rip typically at around 20M/s which is very good. So it turns out it is the software. I ran some tests myself. Typically with MakeMKV I'm getting around 2x (8-9 MB/s) but ripping the same disc with DVDFab I'm getting around 4x (16-20 MB/s). I'm reencoding the video to shrink the filesize anyway so I'm kicking myself for using MakeMKV all along. MakeMKV would be the choice if I wanted MKV without reencoding the video I suspect.

I typically get 4x to 6x when using MakeMKV no matter which ROM or burner (or system) I use...

My drive, LG CH08LS10, was riplocked (yes, in makemkv too)
try mediacodespeededit to remove it, or see if alternate firmware already exists.

This option is not available for Pioneer BD drives, as I do not know how to decrypt the firmware.
