Decent Quality Decoders

Ok, thanks to the rule, anyone have any suggestions for DECENT QUALITY decoders?

If you want something free, then I recommend ffdshow.

As is often said around here, anything that isn't broken should produce the same output...that said, I like ffdshow for many formats based on sheer flexibility; if you're completely OCD, you can even try to match iDCT to DCT algorithms...

I didn't know that. I've used ffdshow but thought it may have produced some blockiness though I wasn't entirely sure. Thanks for the info.

It didn't have to be free. I was really looking for something that was just pretty good. Apparently ffdshow is still the favorite.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/deinterlace/files/ old but reliable and without strange "sometimes" ffdshow blocking (which seems to be highly dependent form current OS configuration) - anyway my favorite is ffdshow but also embedded http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64/ MPEG-2 decoder is fine.

Agreed, Dscaler5 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/deinterlace/files/DScaler%205%20-%20Alpha%20MPEG%20Filters/0.0.8/) is still my favorite MPEG2 decoder and it's supported on Windows 7 with Clsid's Preferred Filter Tweaker (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146910).
