I backed up a Blu-Ray main movie to one 4GB m2ts file. I burned it to a DVD+RW. I can put it in my PS3, it identifies it as a data disc and I can play the m2ts fine.
Will most Blu-Ray players other than a PS3 be able to play it?
If not, what do I need to use to author the disc on a DVD5 or DVD9? multiAVCHD or is that overkill?

1. good for you.
2. none of them (as of 13.01.2010 for Germany), some might play it as an MKV, but other restrictions apply (disk type/format, MKV format/size etc.)
3. tsmuxer or multiavchd - but that depends on your player (mainly if it's Panasonic or the rest of the world)
4. multiavchd allows you to select the destination, provides you a menu and so on.

Some blu-ray players will play them but not all, multiavchd is good for authoring to blu-ray/avchd that will play on most blu-ray players.

Could you give us an example of a BD player that plays .M2TS files as such (ie not part of a BDMV structure)?
