I got some MKVs, 720p and aspect ratio is stretched out too wide. These were not created by me, I dont know who made them, etc, all I want to know is if it is possible, using some tool, to add a aspect ratio setting into the MKV file somehow?
Basically any post-encode setting you can attach into the MKV as maybe a script or code, i dont know, some *method* to tell the MKV to play at 16:9 setting by default even though the video is incorrectly encoded at 2.35:1 (stretched wide). I currently do this in Media Player Classic HT by selecting the 16:9 aspect ratio over-ride option, but when I burn these movies, if it would be possible to have them affected/changed this way [without completely re-encoding the video], please let me know.
I have seen these kinds of fixes released online, for usually xvid or divx movies, where a small patcher program and script file is used to change a multitude of things to the video and audio from itvc fixing to sync issues fixing, fps fixing, etc. So it is my hope that such utilities might already exist for manipulating MKVs.
Thanks for any help,
