Hey, I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting this but it seemed like the best place.

I've got some MKV files that are 1080p with 5.1 AC3 sound. I want to convert them to a file type that can be streamed to the xbox 360. Transcoding software like tversity won't work with files of this quality (about 8000kbps). Also, remuxing to mp4 won't work with a file of this quality and it will force me to downgrade to 2 channel AAC audio. I have had great success streaming 1080p XVID files with 5.1 audio with no problems whatsoever and so this is the file type I think is best.

So after deciding that I set out to find a program that can convert an mkv to xvid and have come up empty handed, strangely most xvid encoders can't open my mkv files. Is there any tool (preferably a 1 step) that can encode from mkv to xvid?

Thanks in advance.

MeGUI?

Thanks for your reply. MeGUI seems like the program I need, however I'm having an issue. When I set up the intended filesize in the bitrate calculator it seems to ignore this and makes the file roughly double the size I want and double the bitrate. Has anyone seen this problem before? Thanks again for your help.

You must copy the resulting bitrate (when you set your preferred filesize) into the xvid options, there's a button for that named "Apply" on the bitrate calculator.
