Gordian Knot / x264 newb question

So i'm trying it out for the first time, and trying to follow the provided guide:

But for some reason its not working as expected. In Step 0, clicking on the 1st/2nd pass buttons don't do anything for me. They don't bring up any panels to configure x264. Now I have installed the items mentioned in the guide:

GordianKnot Rippack
GordianKnot Codec pack
x264 codec

So I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong.

Gordian Knot is very outdated (not updated since years) and not very good for x264 encoding

I suggest you try another up to date GUI like RipBot264, StaxRip or Megui

IMO they should just remove that old GK x264 guide from Doom9, it only creates confusion

If you want to use Gordian Knot, you must have a VfW version of x264 installed.

I have to agree with that.

I've been a long-time user of Doom9 (more on DVD to DVD-R Backup) and this is a great site, but I've spent the last 2 hours trying to understand why I couldn't follow a Doom9's guide.

Please update it or remove it.

As it is, it only leads people in wasting time.
Remember that this really is "The definitive DVD backup resource".
