I'm trying to install Avisynth in Windows 7 x64, but the "install files on the installation folder" (or something like that, the installer is not in English) is always greyed out with both stable and alpha versions, I did run it as admin but it didn't help. Any tips?

I assume you are talking about the option "Avisynth Base (required)" > "Install files in System directory" versus "Install files in product directory".

These options are internally selected to implement the type of install selected. The "Install files in product directory" is used to implement the "Standalone, Unpack Files only" install type. This install type is for non-admins to unpack all the files into the Product directory for subsequent "advance" action. The net result is a non functional install that requires manual intervention.

You should be choosing one of the standard install types to achieve a functional installation. The system files must be installed in the system directories to work.

Yeah, I'm talking about this, I'm confused because the setup in XP never had that option.

Then it's supposed to be like that?

PS: I used the /LANG parameter to change the setup language.

Yes, it's supposed to be like that. It's not intended as a user-editable option. You either install the files to the "System" directory -or- to the "Product" directory.

And you select it by "Type of Install". Also you should use "Standard", which will install the files to the System directory, because that's where other applications will expect/find the Avisynth DLL.

As IanB said, installing the Avisynth DLL to the Product directory is a workaround for users that don't have admin right's for a "proper" install and just want to extract the files...
