When the UAC in Win7 is brought up while using virtualdub in capture avi mode(and only in capture mode) Win7 switches to basic visual mode. Any ideas why this might be occuring?

You are using the Overlay renderer. Aero Glass doesn't support overlays, so it will be disabled temporarily, if an application tried to use the Overlay renderer.

Solution: Don't use the Overlay renderer...

Even when not using the overlay renderer the issue still arises.

Then VDub is still trying to create an overlay - for some reason. You should check the options again and maybe try the "OpenGL" renderer.

If you can't fix it, you better discuss that issue at the VDub Forums:
