Have DV encodings, deinterlaced by TGMC.
is there any matrix recommendation to use fo it?

If you use x264, stick with the default (flat) matrix ;)

If you are using TGMC (I hope u used tr3=3 and NNEDI2), your clips should be very compressible.

nnedi2 and tr3=3, but sometimes im adding previous removed noise back. (Didee calls it "noise bypass")

I suppose ....
TGMC[tr3=3, NNEDI2] ===> --tune film
TGMC[tr3=3, NNEDI2, noise-bypass] ===> --tune grain

It was said before that you shouldn't use "--tune grain", except for high bitrate encodes where grain retention is all that matters.

I know bppx is devil.... but... how high is "high encode"?

If you're archiving bobbed DV, you had damned well better be doing "high bitrate" encodes :)

I'd say anything over 15mbps for 480p60 / 476p50 would be a very high bitrate.

Do you care about hitting a specific bitrate / filesize? Or, do you just use CRF encoding? I personally favor the latter, and would use CRF 14-16 for archival purposes, maybe as low as 12-13 if you're a real psychopath ;)

15mbps?!

I believe that bob'bed DV @ 480p60 by TGMC(tr3=3, NNEDI2) is well under 2.5 or 3mbps at --preset slower --level 4.1 --profile high --crf 21 .... unless it is a disco session.

Why not use CRF mode and let x264 use the bitrate that is required to retain the desired level of quality, instead of speculating about the required bitrate?

Exactly. CRF21 is NOT archival!!!

CRF12-16 is archival :)
