Dumpster won't open large quicktime files on mac

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to repair some quicktime files using Dumpster on OSx 10.5.8
When I try to open a 200meg file it just sits on spinning ball - it opens smaller files OK. Any suggestions? are there any alternatives to dumpster?
