1. VOB files to Premiere 6 for editing

I am totally new to this and would be most gratefull for any detailed help you can give.
I wish to make up music compilations from various DVDs that I own..
using Premiere and then DVDit...I have tried to use the DVD2AVI fake AVI files but Premiere although recognising the audio, plays only a black screen on video..Is there another way to create AVI files from VOB which will work in Premiere 6..I would be so gratefull for any help you can offer me.

You could just rename the *.VOB file to *.MPG. You can then import the file into Adobe Premiere. If you plan to change it and re-save it as a VOB though, you will lose the VOB audio. I'm not sure why, guess it has something with the way it is encoded.
Also, if you want the audio for the whole movie intact, you could use vob2dec or dvd2avi to strip the audio stream into a wave file then import it into Premiere.
