I'm using .avi files with ac3 sound muxed. No problems with Windows XP, WMP8 and the ac3 audiofilters.
However, I also have a notebook at work that needs to run on Windows NT4 due to employer issues. And I can't get the ac3 sound to work at all. I've installed the ac3 filters, of course, and they report to be registered successfully (win2k batch). Reboot and everything, also tried several players (WMP6.4, WinDVD, Powerdivx) - no sound. WMP is always looking for some missing components at microsoft.com and without success, of course.
I assume the avi/ac3 audiofilters do not work with Windows NT. Any ideas? Well, I know NT is not the OS of choice for these things...
