Hi all.
The other day I went out and purchased a Sony BlueRay player to add to my home entertainment setup (for what it is).
In the past I have backed up my much used DVDs before they died. Now that I have a BlueRay player I will no doubt be having a similar need to backup some movies, but I would like to back up to DVD's as the media is by far cheaper.
My burner only burns DVDs single and DL's.
What do I need by way of hardware for my computer to be able to do this? :confused:
Any advice appreciated.

You will need:
* BD-ROM reader in your PC, so you can transfer the movies to your HDD
* a program to decrypt Blu-ray discs
* a program to shrink Blu-ray down to a size that will fit a DVD (BD-Rebuilder) (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716)

Hi Deank.
Thanks for your quick reply. Do you have any preferences as to the BD-ROM reader?

There's no much choice anyway ;) Sony/NEC, LiteOn, LG, Panasonic.

@Janset
Depending upon your O/S, you may or may not have to install a UDF 2.50 driver...

Hi Setarip.
My operating system is Win XP Pro with Service Pack 3.

Then you'll have to download and install a UDF 2.50 driver (Vista and Windows 7 come already equipped)...

I don't want to nitpick but if you get yourself a BD-ROM drive wouldn't it come with an installer CD so you can use it right away? I have an HD-DVD compatible Blu-ray writer (from LG) that came with OEM package of player, burner etc. on a disc. But I hardly use it - the player for any HD discs. (But that's another matter.)
What I want to say I have XP SP3 too and didn't need to install an UDF 2.50 driver after running the install CD-ROM.
