I use Virtual Dub in compatibility mode to capture at 480x288 as this mode solves the audio-video de-synch problem.
I can't however put any video compression to use while at this mode. I have PIC Video MJPEG and Huffyuv 211 codecs installed and enabled and can use them no problem with normal VDub capture, but when I go compatibility mode I only get uncompressed video (1.0:1) no matter what codec I have chosen in the "Compression: Compatibility" option.
I'm really puzzled as to why this is happening. No matter what resolution I choose, I can only capture uncompressed video in compatibility mode. I get no dropped frames and great guality, but file size is so huge... Anyone can give me a clue regarding what's wrong and how I fix it?
I have a Celeron 900, 512K Ram, NVidia MX 400 VIVO and SB Live and run Windows XP Pro and VDub 1.4.5 and 1.4.8.
Cheers
