Aliasing and stuttering issues on HD source

Hello,

My source is 1080i25 music video capture. Using Srestore() solved the interlacing and filed-blends issues, but now there's a stutter caused by what seems to be dupe frames. Worse then the stuttering, there's some very bad aliasing I couldn't get rid of, no matter what I tried.

Here are samples of aliasing and stuttering from the unprocessed source (TS files) + same samples processed with the script below and encoded to Xvid (Avi):

Actually, this "aliasing" problem is so bad, that I'm not sure I can call it aliasing anymore. Another thing is that this artifact is not on every frame, but appears in an alternately fashion.

Hmh. Quickly looking at the source, you might want to ask MTV if they destroyed the clip on purpose, or if they're simply incompetent.

Off hand, I see no way.

Fact is (seems to be) that they took already-fieldblended SD crappola, and just blew it up to HD res. I'm not sure if the upscale even was done correctly. I quickly tried to re-downscale it to interlaced SD, but that still looks quite messy. Personally, I would not invest much time into that. Label it "FUBAR", and let it be.

Sorry I can't add a lot more other than: "UNBELIEVABLE". The most stupid part is the huge burned-in "MTV HD" ("HD"????) logo!

The actual meaning of "HD" is case dependent. It can stand for "High Definition". But it can also mean "Huge Disappointment", or "Hilarious Disaster", ...
