I am capturing from laserdisc, I am using a usb2800 dvd maker and virtualdub 1.9.7, however I have 2 problems.
1. If I capture at 640x480 I get a fairly good picture but the overscan areas are chopped off too much! I lose quite a bit of the picture. Why is this and will other capture devices not do this or allow adjustment? I made sure "cropping" was set to 0 and off.
2. If I capture at 720x480 I get the whole picture and then some horizontally, but the image suffers terribly for some reason. Lots of blocking or artifacts on diagonal edges. And I still lose the top and bottom.
This 1st pic from a 640x480, no compression avi capture:

This 2nd pic is from a 720x480, no compression avi capture, notice the left and right hand sides of screen the picture that was missing in the 640 capture, but also notice the jaggies! What the heck?

I'm thinking of trying a "Dazzle DVC 107" capture device but am unsure whether it will offer me any relief. Thanks in advance for your input.
