My MP3 collection is volume leveled to 91db. Playback volume on my PS3 is WAY lower than playback of streaming video or DVDs. My problem is I want to create playlists for my media server that play both MP3s and MP4 music videos. But this won't work if there is a big volume discrepancy. At first I thought I was going to have to re-encode my MP4's with lower volume but when I verified the volume on a DVD inserted into the PS3 is just as high I confirmed the problem is my MP3 volume is too low. But 91db is normal. Actually 2db higher than MP3 Gain recommendation. I changed it to 96db and it seemed lower but still noticeable quieter than the soundtrack on the video playback.
