I made a new short clip (clip A), about 36 seconds long, first with no sound track at all – just video from the start, and then processed it to MPEG. I then took the same clip and added a sound track, and then processed that to MPEG with the audio set at 224 KB/sec (clip B). Then I took clip B, and processed it again with the audio set at 64 KB/sec (clip C).

Result: Clips A and B were both 27.85 MB; Clip C was 27.70 MB, so practically no difference.

QUESTION: How does one completely disable audio? (thus making it occupy 0 bytes)

Demux? Is this a trick question?

???? I really dont get what you're after.
Just demux the audio, as Manono told you, and you should be fine:p
Later on you can mux your heart out with the audio tracks.
And yes, your final file should be remarkable bigger with the audio included, depending on the bitrate you spend for it.
Which muxer did you use?

Why you added the audio if you want a file with no audio at all?
