Hi,
I am trying to rip my HD-DVD discs for nas storage and popcornhour (C-200) playback.
Movie at hand: Transformers
1st step: Anydvd HD rip to harddisk
2nd step: evodemux to demux the streams
3rd stop: tsmuxergui to mux to m2ts and remove pulldown
problem: pulldown removal not ok, visible shimmering effects in titles for instance
went back to step 2: demuxed and removed pulldown with eac3to instead
3rd step: converted eac3/DD+ audio to ac3 with eac3to
4th step: created BD structure with tsmuxergui from video, audio and sup files
problem: video and audio play a-ok, however when subtitle is activated the popcornhour shows the subtitle but not the picture of the movie except for a small box around the subtitle. the rest of the image is black. this behavior toggles with (de)activating subtitle.
As the popcornhour apparently only supports pgs streams when playing BD structures and not from single m2ts file:
5th step: suprip sup file and convert to srt.
(I have used original re-saved by SUPread as 23.97 and 29.97 as well as demuxed from m2ts)
problem: when playing back m2ts the subtitle is there but out of sync. It is first late, then early, there is no consistent offset.
However, the srt file has correct timing!
So why is the popcornhour throwing it all over the place?
I have supripped dozens of movies (original BD though) and never seen this behavior. I am inclined to believe it must be something in the m2ts file?
I've even remuxed the m2ts with tsremux just for the hell of it, but that makes no difference as well.
What is going wrong here?
And if someone has any idea why the pgs stream is turning off most of the image when playing the BD structure?
At the moment copying an mkv with srt to my nas that seems ok, but I'm curious to know what is happening and prefer m2ts anyway (or preferably BD structure even, sharp subtitles!)
comments, tips appreciated!
