I tried looking, but I'm terrible or maybe this has not been asked before.

When a source is converted to PAL and you get those ugly frame blends, does that actually show up on PAL displays ?

I cannot fathom why for example, something like that would sell in the countries that use PAL, and I've just been bugging myself about finding out an answer. Surely consumers would demand better quality?

Actually they are field blends. It is not horrible to watch when played at normal speed, especially on an interlaced display. And people get used to it just as US people get used to 3:2 pulldown.

I always confuse field blends and frame blends.. meh.. Anyway I just thought I would ask, as I got ahold of some second hand DVD's from a friend and I've been playing around with them.. I'm ohhhh so close to getting them fixed with SRestore, but no matter what I tweak, I keep ending up with some minor blend artifacts (sometimes a shadow of part of the next field(?) that looks kind of transparent, other times a ghost image in funky colors, etc, or when the next frame is essentially a dupe the next part that has changed screws up a different section of the image proceeding it, but the part that changed has washed out looking color in that same frame)..

Really weird stuff. Driving me nuts. I wonder what playing the VOBs on my TV in 1080i would do, heh :p
