I extracted with transcode the two front channels from an AC3 448kbps Dolby.
How to merge those two PCM files into an unique stereo MP3?
thanks
Furthermore the two FL and FR chans doesn't contain any speech... I can hear some ambient sound, footsteps and so on... shouldn't be relegated to rear speakers?

Yes, using a downmix to stereo or dpl II

sidenote: I am adding a second english track because those remaining 100mb on the dvd9 are a waste of free space. I am amazed by AAC HCv2, unfortunately my dvd player can't read mp4 containers and a 40kbps 16khz mp3 isn't really the same thing :(

About merging FL, FR, you can use Adobe Audition. Load your audio in Audition, and extract FL and FR. Open the multichannel encoder, load FL, FR and click " Export" and save as one interleaved WAV file, then click " OK", now you get the merged WAV file.
To get a stereo MP3, you need a conversion program to convert WAV to MP3.
