Oh wow, I just stumbled across this post and that script looks like its awesome.
I won't know for sure until my encode finishes, but I've been playing around with a friends PAL DVD for fun and could not figure out how to get rid of some of the nastiest of the blending (still had parts of one frame appearing in the output) but I did a short preview and it definitely got rid of one or two of the biggest ones that were bugging me.
I am not sure if this was sped up from film, or blended from video but I am guessing I just got lucky or something. But this was a neat discovery. I wish I were as smart as you guys sometimes.
