Can you remove DRM from paid downloadable content?

My sister has season 4 of "The L Word" that she bought through Amazon, and asked if there was any way I could make it so she could play the files on whatever player.

I know that I was thinking of at least trying to get the encryption removed so they could be burned to DVD for her, or perhaps see about getting them to play on my WDTV Live that's on the family TV.

Is it possible to break DRM on these kinds of files? Or is there an official type program or something that online merchants have that would allow burning to DVD?

I know very little about this kind of stuff, obviously.

Amazon videos are in protected Windows Media Video format, so something like FairUseForWM should strip the DRM.

But in the future, buy DVDs instead.

There's no official software to get rid of DRM, unless the content providers are very perverted in their minds (not that I disagree :p) providing you both the lock and the key.

I believe it will, but not if you've upgraded to WMP 11.

I wouldn't jump on the OP and tell him to buy DVDs. There are good reasons for wanting to remove the DRM like playing the videos on a portable media player that isn't PlaysForSure compatible.
