Hi
I am an absolute newbie on this stuff. I am trying have my music video collection on a portable HDD in AVCHD format, so I can do away with discs. My little kid just hates to see working discs:devil: , so this is the best solution, I feel.
I once backed up an ISO file and when HDD space got at a premium started converting the main features to .mkv and DTS-HD or LPCM -> Flac 5.1 and deleted the ISO. Now that I bought a 42" TV, I want to watch it on it from PS3.
I need help in converting the Flac 5.1 (24 Bit/48KHz) back to LPCM 5.1, so I can use tsMuxer to make AVCHD to play on PS3 out of it, but I have not idea how to do it.
Can somebody please help me..

Forgot to mention, the file is 3+ GB and when using the flac front end to decode it, I get error Stream is too big to fit in a single wav.

Convert the FLAC to .W64 (like WAV but with a new header to support >4GB).
Last TsMuxer versions can accept .W64 files
To do the conversion you can use eac3to:
eac3to input.flac output.w64
One question, your PS3 can play PCM 5.1 audio?
You need a receiver conected with HDMI to the PS3.
The receiver show input audio like PCM 5.1?

tebasuna51, Thanks.
I will try that.
Yes I have a receiver that can decode all HD formats, connected to PS3 via HDMI 1.3a cable.
I hope the AVCHD format will be playable with .w64 file from PS3.

Thanks, tebasuna51.
That worked flawlessly, at least the muxing part. eac3to took just under 3 minutes to do the conversion. tsMuxer recognized .w64 file as LPCM 5.1 channel with correct bitrate. Now all I need to check is the AVCHD will work on PS3.
I was reading around with no solution to this issue mentioned anywhere. I even resorted to using Audacity to separate the flac to 6 wav files, that is taking ages to complete (almost 15 hours now to load the file and to export all wav files).
So this is a real life saver!
:thanks:

Yes, please say us if PS3 can send PCM 5.1 to receiver.

Yes it did! Everything worked just as it should be. PS3 (fat) shows Linear PCM 5.1 6.7 mb/s for Audio. Everything is just the same like from playing from the disc. I guess my little daughter can keep playing with her expensive toy coasters :)
I am done with PS3 media server also, I guess, good as it is. The seek and chapters are too good to lose.
Only wish list is to get the chapter info from the disc to AVCHD which I haven't mastered and a little niggle is the need to rename the folders on the HDD.
Thanks buddy.

N.B. lpcm 5.1 is played and displayed on screen by ps3 BUT if you use the standard stereo cable witch came in the box you will get ONLY the left and right channels (not 5.1 > 2.0 downmmix as it should!!!) so if it is dialog on the center channel you don't hear it...

We are talking about use HDMI conexion between PS3 and receiver.
And my question is if the receiver (by HDMI) recognize the PCM 5.1

@tebasuna51 i am aware of the topic...that is the reason for N.B. (Nota Bene)...from wikipedia:
Nota bene is a Latin and Italian phrase meaning "note well"[nb 1]. It is in the singular imperative mood, instructing one individual to note well the matter at hand. (The pluralis form is notate bene.) In present-day English, it is used to draw the attention of the reader to a certain (side) aspect or detail of the subject on hand, translating it as "pay attention" or "take notice". It is often written in the abbreviated form: N.B.
best regards...

Funny the receiver says Stereo. I have the PS3 decode all the audio formats and send only LPCM (not bitstream). Even when I play DTS 5.1 or DTS-MA, the receiver only says Stereo. Wonder why?
BTW, I have only 2.1 system now, having sold my rear and surrounds for an upgrade. But that money is eaten by the TV. Anyway, wonder if the 2.1 speaker system is responsible for the Stereo message on the receiver:confused:
