Hi Guys!

I'm having some trouble here.

I Bought a Ati HD3450 with a PCI X1 Slot (for barebone).

I plugged it in and started MPC

Result: H264/Bitstream Decoder in Mpc-decoder but it does not start playing!

using Winxp and testet all output renderers.

If i use the Microsoft Decoder WmvDmo(whatever...) it starts playing but it is definitley not using DXVA

How can i get it to work properly, any ideas :helpful:

Thanks
user

Try the "VMR9 (renderless)" renderer w/ 3D surfaces.
If that doesn't work, you might wanna install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and try the "Custom EVR" renderer.

VMR 9 renderless makes the decoder use DXVA but the vid does simply not start (always 0:00)

EVR custom starts extremely laggy(about 2fps) without DXVA

i'll do checklist and new drivers

and yes testet opensource and xvidvideo.ru built!

DXVA-Checker looks promising for results!

Edit:

Tested DXVA-Checker, very bad results

WMVideo Decoder DMO it's for VC-1 and it doesn't have DXVA and H264 it's for ...........H264/AVC so what are you trying to play ?
Did you follow all the steps from tetsuo55 link ?

Look here (http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=109509). I dont know cause of your problem, but that might be helpful.

something about the pci x1 slot??

Yes, indeed !!
The DXVA support is disabled for PCIe x1 by all recent Catalyst versions. Only 8.1 works. But I found a registry entry to reactivate the DXVA support for my Sapphire HD 3450 PCIe x1. Please have a look to this thread (posts #26 & #31) here:
http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=68263&p=2

Btw, the usage of DXVA Checker has changed since the 2.1.0.0 release. Try left-clicking first now to get a sub-menu. Right-click for copying. NEW: You can get the main sub-menu only by left-clicking onto a the small button (with an arrow down symbol now) in the upper right corner now instead of right-clicking into the window.

Hey, littleD was a little faster now :D

One more remark: Please use VMR7 windowed mode without subtitles, because the VMR9 renderless with support for subtitles is not fast enough with the low PCIe bandwidth. And finally, another trick: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=75704

And finally, another trick: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=75704Can you please contact casimir666 about that, he might be able to fix mpc-hc to do it automatically.

The problem with this hack is that it depends very much on the actual hardware and software configuration and unfortunately I did not get any confirmation yet that it works for anybody else too.

Yes, the discussion about H.264 L5.1 support started in june already with a post from Zach Saw alias zachs78: http://nunnally.ahmygoddess.net/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/comment-page-6/#comment-1959
Later on, more and more different solutions were introduced by other people like DDDDD alias sirDan and Shiro for example.
http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=106911&highlight_key=y&keyword1=dxva
My own hack is a modified version of SirDan's trick, which did not work for me, neither the trick from Zach Saw did it, but Shiro's solution also works on my system. So. everybody has to try all of them out, there's no general solution for all of us.

Hey, sirDan is me;)

The tricks work because there is a bug in Radeon drivers. ATI actually dont care about 5.1l support and some levels maniacs.

As peek said, every system behaves differently. But there is definitely something in the air. If cashmir could make it somehow "stable" for most Radeon owners, that would be cool. But there's also a difference between 3xxx and 4xxx series.

In that case can you both contact Casimir?

I'm conviced we can get this working from within MPC-HC

@user822

Thanks a lot for your feedback!
Did you also try the DXVA_Init.rar to initialize the H.264 L5.1 support? You should have a good chance that it works on XP in VMR7-windowed mode because you have the same PCIe x1 limitation that I have with my Dell PC. But I would recommend
to use the external CyberLink H.264 decoder v2.4.0.1426 because with the internal MPC-HC decoder there are still some artifacts left on the bottom of the screen during the playback of the James Bond trailer.

If you really need subtitles then please try out the latest version of Splash Lite. On my system it's the only player that is able to play some level 4.1 videos with subtitles, like "Elephants Dream" smooth and flawless in DXVA mode now. It's also the first player being able to use DXVA for mov-files with PCM-audio in big endian format like this one:
http://downloads.canon.com/seethedifference/XHA1_XHG1/xha1_g1_provence_full-10mbps-1920x1080.mov

@tetsuo55
I would like to know if my hack also works for user822 before getting in contact with Casimir.

tetsuo55, I personally don't think it's MPC-HC's responsibility to implement hacks to driver bugs (that happen on a VERY specific set of systems).

Same issue here. Using 8800 GTS 512 MB EVGA.

See my report here:

What should I do? :(

oke perhaps i'll test dxva_init but h264 files with about 12ref still run very good with coreavc anyway it was mainly about vc1!

the Microsoft decoder can use dxva as well as the mpc-internal

should not be any problem..

Try this, please (it's not a perfect solution, but it works): http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1312582&postcount=48

@ user822

Did you already check out the DXVA_Init?

Do you mean 10.4 ?
Try these ones .They are newer.

Maybe your card is listed there. To my surprise my old HD3650 was.
If you're runnung vista install the drivers "as administrator". Otherwise CCC doesn't start.

Edit: L@5.1 profile DXVA, with latest ATI drivers, only works for UVD2 and 2.2 ATI cards. AFAIK HD3450 is UVD+.

i use XP currently. ANyway i will update and re-isntall Catalyst so far!

i now use a "Club-3D HD 4350 Low Profile", this one should have UVD 2.2(WIkipedia says that) but it always used UVD1...

Product info (http://www.club3d.nl/products/products_ending_page_7_with_id.cfm?product_id=213)

how can i use the UVD2? Problem is i still sue the PCIex1 Slot!

EDIT: THe Catalyst Beta says it does nto find a working hardware, Catalyst 10.4 now runs fine

I am using an ATI Radeon 5450 in a PCI-e x1 slot in Windows 7 and having serious problems getting smooth Flash playback. Judging by the CPU usage, it would appear as if hardware acceleration is not even enabled.

I tried setting DisablePCIEx1LaneUVD to 0 through DXVA Checker but this doesn't seem to have done anything for me.

Any ideas?

What does the DXVA Checker show you?
Is there a line "ModeH264_VLD_NoFGT_Flash.....DXVA*...." ??
If not, you won't get any Flash GPU support. For my HD3450 only the Catalyst 9.11 has this Flash DXVA support, none before and nothing after Cat 9.11. That's why I love Ati sooo much :D Btw, the latest Flash 10.1 rc6 was running stable, even though there was still a lot of tearing.

But, I've just decided to update to Cat 10.5 and to give up on Flash DXVA support, because Cat 9.11 was the only one which didn't support the AVIVO acceleration for Splash Lite. And now, with the Cat 10.5, the Nero Suite MPEG decoder v6.3.0.9 and my DXVA_Init for Level 5.1 I can successfully play 1080p videos with up to 12 reference frames on my HD3450 PCIe x1 !!
