I was reading a review of a film on Amazon, if was "How the west was one", an oldish film (1963). It was filmed in extreme widescreen (in three sections). The review referred to the second disc with a thing called, 'Smilebox' which simulates the Cinerama effect.
Can someone explain what that actually/does.
Thanks in advance.

You could have just googled it, what I did. I went to film school and have seen this before but forgot all about it.
