i do not have a dvdrom on my pc. i only have a cd writter.

is it possible to burn dvds without a dvdrom?
if so how?

Also can i create dvds from video casette. (VCR videos)?
if so How?

can i create dvds from avi movies?

to burn dvds a dvd writer drive is needed

U can't burn them even with DVD-rom. U need a DVD-R drive. U can rip DVDs to ur hard disk and encode them to different format (ex. DivX) if u have a DVD-rom drive. After that u can burn them on one or multiple CD-Rs. So u need an DVD-Rom and CD-RW drive (or hybrid), or in theory u can capture the feed from DVD-player if u have a Video-in graphics card and fast enough CPU. U will allso need a capture capable graphics card if u want to digitize ur (VHS) videos. u need to capture them to harddisk first and then (encode them to DivX)burn them to CD-R.

i believe he means, can he rip svcds/vcds without a dvdrom, and the answer is yes... if you have a friend that has a dvd rom rip it to his hd for you, and then you download it off of him (mind you then run about 4gigs+), then yes, you would be able to rip dvds with a dvdrom...
