Hi everyone;
Is anyone else having trouble decrypting the new Transformers movie? I've tried a few programs but still not able to do it. Always comes up with a reading error? Can anyone help, please?

There's a new protection on this one.
So you'll need the latest AnyDVD beta or the perhaps latest DVDFab HD Decrypter beta for this one (it's not clear yet if this latest beta has been updated to fix this particular issue).

@ice1975manmy windows media player actually asked me to select the region to even be able to play it and I have never seen that before.Sounds like you've somehow managed to purchase the DVD for a different region than your own - or previously mistakenly set your drive to a different region.
If the DVD is, in fact, for a different region than yours, simply return it i exchange for one for the correct region (Although it's hard to understand how/why your retailer would be selling an out of region DVD)...

well any dvd says it is region 1 and 4 how can it be both lol I set my windows media player to region 1 so it would play it but it tells me I can only do that 5 more times I hope I dont have to change it again its weird like I said first time I have run into it.

I have checked the region code and it's the correct one. I have also updated to the newest dvdfab and anydvd and still haven't got anywhere. Any other suggestions anyone? Please.

Typically, with a new copy protection scheme (If that's what this is), a new version of DVDFabHD Decrypter (FREEWARE) that will successfully rip the DVD is released eitheer the same day or the next.
So, just be a little patient...

Had problems with this also on DVDFab 6.0.4.0. Downloaded and installed 6.0.7.0. which was built on 9/18/09. Had the same problem, "Error While Reading." I'm sure a new version will be out soon and will post if it works.

I hear this works also with ver 6.0.7.0, but I used the latest beta ver 6.1.1.8
Boot dvdfab and go into settings and then disable pathplayer.
Put the disc in and select main movie.
Find & select Title 47. MUST BE 47!
When you get errors, click "ignore all" and keep ignoring them.
Eventually, you'll get the "Next" button. Click it.
You may even get errors after it's finished & the disc ejects.
It works!

The latest AnyDVD (since 6.5.9.4, current is 6.5.9.5) should be handling this disc fine, though I've heard that a bunch of those discs have a bad pressing. That makes it hard to tell protection issues from manufacturing faults.

Or you simply use AnyDVD (WORTHEVERYPENNYWARE) that will successfully rip this DVD right away :p
Anyway folks, I wanted to add that this disc may require setting the correct drive region for now.

I thought you might like to know that with essentially one click and no other software required, "MakeMKV" (presently freeware) makes a perfect movie-only .MKV copy of the standard DVD of "Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen"
BTW - It also processes the BluRay version effortlessly...

Hi!
MKV files are intended for playback with software players - either directly on your computer or via home theater setups.
If you'd like to convert MKV files into standard DVD format, you can use (freeware) "DVD Flick" or other similar programs.
There may be some standalone players with MKV playback ability just coming to market...

At first glance it appears to have worked. Not verified though. According to zoom player, the length of the resulting MKV is over 26 hours. ???
Also, I cannot skip forward in most of the movie. I can skip for the first little bit, and when I do, there appears to be parts with no audio.

@Running Skittle
Hi!
And the definition of the acronym "FOSS" is "free software and open source software" - Therefore, "DVD Flick" is certainly (at least) FREEWARE.
The only significant point/distinction being made (by me) is that it is not commercial (For Pay) software...

Maybe you use the anydvd ripper first and then
go from that to dvd-rb.
I don't have the movie but I know that people at
The anydvd forum said that this way work for
Shrink.
You can give a try and see what happens.

For those of you that are like me and love a copy to look EXACTLY like the original (menus and such) got something for ya.
I've used the newest trial download of AnyDVD, just to see if it'd work, and sure enough, done. Menu, buttons, and subtitles all still intact.
Shrink ran through it with no problems. It's quite a shrink down, though, at 64% to fit a DVD5. Copying it as movie only wouldn't really be any different though. That's after I took out the other languages besides English and subtitles. The special features are all on Disk 2.

I didn't get a disk two. Just one dual-layer no-frills movie disk. Anyway, what do you end up with, using AnyDVD? I mean, if I want menu's and everything intact, I decrypt to an ISO and burn a dual layer disk.(if source is dual layer) Still don't understand why anyone would use DVDshrink these days.
StonedJuggalo

I always rip my disks directly to HDD as raw file data, uncompressed, not ISO. I don't see as how that would be a problem, though. The program obviously decodes the disk properly. ISO should work fine.
Why I'm on Shrink? Well, I'm a full-time college student helping to support my girlfriend, her 2 kids that live with us, and 2 more of my own livin with their mom, and I can't afford to do the volume of disks I do with DL disks. A 100 pack of DVD+R's for about $20 is about where my price range lies, man. Only reason I'm still on Shrink. Otherwise, I'd be doing BD's. lol

I guess I should have thrown in ..."unless it's to save money on disks"
I hear you there. There's only a simple menu and not much of anything special on this DVD so I probably won't bother with it. (ISO, dual-layer)
Heck, most of them I just copy the main movie, 6ch English, and remove everything else, and burn to DVD, and a single layer disk will do fine. This one's going to need a re-encode regardless of menus so I'd rather just do the whole thing to dual-layer. That's pretty much the only reason I buy those expensive disks. I certainly do not make dual-layer backups of large numbers of disks.
@DVFs_DrinkOrDie

TKS, I was wondering about there being two of them. Second one made a perfect MKV.
Still can't figure out how to copy the entire disk using AnyDVD. It makes the disk appear to be unencrypted to DVD decrypter but I can't figure out how that helps. Still get read/other errors when I try to make a ISO image. Any other programs I use to clone a disk such as Nero's "copy DVD" (also makes an ISO image) fail too, so what good it it?

Just released DVDFab (etal) v.6.1.25 indicated to properly do a full rip of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" (also known as Transformers 2)...
http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
This announcement from Fengtao was posted this morning @ http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=879
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING DVDFab HD Decrypter
Dear All,
Effective with DVDFab v6.1.2.5, the updates for the free version of the product, DVDFab HD Decrypter, will no longer be linked to updates of the registered version. There are many reasons for this, some of which are explained below.
The effect of this new policy is that some of the features, fixes and updates in the release notes will not apply to the HD Decrypter version of the product immediately. Users attempting to use a feature that has not been updated will receive a message to that effect. This includes updates to copy protection schemes for both DVD and Blu-ray. Specifically, for V6.1.2.5, the protection removal for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is not included in DVDFab HD Decrypter. For Blu-ray to Blu-ray, only through MKB10 is supported, while MKB11-16 have been added to the registered version.
This new policy was developed in part due to the increased staff workload in maintaining all the versions and defeating the new protections of both Blu-ray and standard DVDs. We also feel that the registered users who support product development financially should have the most timely access to new features. These and other business factors will make it more feasible for us to continue to offer the free version of DVDFab on an ongoing basis.
DVDFab HD Decrypter will continue to receive immediate bug fixes, and new protection removal will be updated generally within 30-60 days of initial release to registered users. Thank you for understanding this new policy and we hope you will continue to use and enjoy DVDFab products.
Best regards,
Fengtao

@jm1647
Hi!
Well, it may have taken 3 or 4 years (maybe longer?), but the prediction I made at the once-vibrant Digital Digest Forum regarding this has now come true - I'm just surprised that it took "Fengtao" this long to arrive at this perfectly logical business decision.
I would, however, suggest to "Fengtao" that a holdback period of two weeks after release date should be more than sufficient to serve his purpose.
(Perhaps, if he's still around [although this doesn't any longer seem to be the case], "Digi", the author of DVD95Copy, will now offer a free "ripper-only" version of his program, as he proposed to me several times in the past)
Of course, presently, there's still MakeMKV for movie-only...

I clicked on "ignore errors" before ripping (it is an option) and the process went smooth and required no user input (other than disable pathplayer and selecting #47).
Question:
How did you figure out that 47 was the correct stream?
I don't know how HE figured it out, but when I played my full ISO copy of the disk, the movie starts, and my DVD player software says it's title 47.
Using AnyDVD, right click on the 'fox' tray icon and select 'Rip Video DVD to Hard Disk', then select your destination. That's how I got mine to work. I didn't use any other decrypting software other than AnyDVD.
I don't mean to be sarcastic, but oh jeez, I never would have thought of that. AnyDVD only removes copy/region code protection. It doesn't do any ripping whatsoever.
Those options were NOT THERE until I also downloaded and installed CloneDVD. I swear it. But anyway, yeah. AFTER also installing CloneDVD, cloneDVD did all of the structure protection maneuvers, skipping fake titles, and edited the IFO to create an ISO that worked perfectly. I have a copy now that plays just like the original, menu navigation and all, but it took BOTH AnyDVD and CloneDVD to do it. As to the cost of purchasing a license and 1yr update subscription, it's just too high at this time. This is the first DVD in several years that I couldn't do with free software. If at some point, at least 1/3 of the DVD's I try, won't decrypt/copy with free software, I might consider paying.
Now if I could just get Memorex (The only DL brand I can find in stores) to stop rating their dual-layer disks at 8X, then people like myself, would stop throwing away expensive disks! (They only burn properly at 4X or 6X) I tossed 4 before I got the clue.

Those options were there for many, many versions of AnyDVD, now - installing CloneDVD does in no way change the behavior of AnyDVD.
With AnyDVD v6.5.9.5 you can rip Transformers 2 with a single click and AnyDVD only, provided that the drive's region code matches.
With AnyDVD v6.5.9.6 we fixed the problem with the region code.
So for all of you coming up with these rather complicated recipes (use this in combination with that, wait for full moon, then turn your monitor up side down and select 47, ...): really not required, if you use a current AnyDVD :)
