Hi,
I'm trying to convert a DTS Track to AC3. I am using foobar2000 to create a single 5.1 wav. Then I am using BeSweet to create 6 single mono wavs. But when loading these tracks into audition (for editing and syncing before creating the final ac3), each of the tracks is far too long: over 6 hours long! That means: 1h40min the "real track" and the rest ist just 4h20min of silence?! How can that be?
And: I Could load the 5.1 Wav (created with foobar) into Audition. It has the correct length, but the problem is the channelmappen: The filenames do not show, which track is e.g. the center, FL, FR, LFE etc.
Could someone help me with one of my problems?
Thank you!!!

Hi!
Have you tried using "eac3to" instead of "Foobar 2000"?

Mostlx caused by Players/Tools that cant read the Informations out of the Header on Wav Files bigger then 4Gb.
Use eac3to.

I agree, I have used Foobar in the past for experimentation purposes. EAC3to is by far the better audio conversion application.

...Then I am using BeSweet to create 6 single mono wavs...
Please forget BeSweet for audio conversion, don't support big files, WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE header, etc.
...It has the correct length, but the problem is the channelmappen: The filenames do not show, which track is e.g. the center, FL, FR, LFE etc.
Correct wav files must have always the same channel order:
FL,FR,FC,LFE,BL,BR
and Foobar2000 output correct wav files.
BTW, if you have eac3to with ArcSoft DTS decoder the best option is use:
eac3to input.dts multichannel.wav
or
eac3to input.dts mono.wavs

Thank you for all your replies!
eac3to has often been recommended for various operations eps. dts > ac3. BUT: I have absolutely no idea how to use this tool. :) I have tried eac3tomoregui but it has always crashed on me and it seemed way to complicated (probably because I knew from the start it was outdated since it's discontinued).
Does anyone have a guide/link for me? I think I should stick to eac3to, it seems the best option for me!
Thanks!

Here is what you do with the eac3to cli interface:
eac3to <path>filename.dts <path>filename.ac3 followed by -192, -448 or -640 to specify what bitrate you want.
That's it.

How do I correctly install ArcSoft DTS decoder? eac3to doesn't seem to find it, after I have installed TotalMedia Theatre 3?

You don't need it unless you're decoding DTS-HD variants. If you are, you should be able to find your answer by searching this forum for arcsoft.

And now I even dare to use eac3to ;-)
