View Full Version : No Sound

I have found auto gordian knot to be the perfect tool, especially for someone like me that just needs to set it and forget it. Thanks for a most terrific program. I have installed 2.55 on basically a virgin vista loaded computer. I have a large mpeg, which when played is good hd quality and has audio. I am using autogk to reduce the size to a reasonable avi. BUT, on this computer, I have no sound, either on the preview or in the resulting file. I'm not sure what I am missing. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
JIM

There's no sound in the preview.

Are you keeping AC3 audio? You'll need something like AC3Filter installed to get audio.

Wrong,

Here is a script for a preview:

LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\AutoGK\filters\autocrop.dll")

movie = mpeg2source("G:\FILMS\Unite speciale femme d_action\agk_tmp\femme d_action.d2v")
audio = DirectShowSource("G:\FILMS\Unite speciale femme d_action\agk_tmp\femme d_action T80 2_0ch 256Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3")
audio = DelayAudio(audio,0)
movie = AudioDub(movie,audio)

fixed_aspect = 1.09401709401709
c_width = width(cropclip)
c_height = round(height(cropclip) / fixed_aspect)

out_width = 704
out_height = round(float(out_width) / input_par)
hmod = out_height - (floor(out_height / 16 ) * 16)
out_height = (hmod > 4) ? (out_height + (16 - hmod)) : (out_height - hmod)
new_aspect = (float(out_width) / float(out_height)) / fixed_aspect
autocrop(movie,mode=0,wmultof=4,hmultof=4,samples=10,aspect=new_aspect,threshold=34,samplestartframe=0,leftadd=0,rightadd=0,topadd=0,bottomadd=0)
LanczosResize(out_width,out_height)

If your goal is to come after my contribution and post for denigration you do not help the OP.

Do me a favor just ignore me as I already ignore you when you answer. If not, it will have to go the board because I don't think this attitude is compatible with doom9 spirit.

I don't see where in any manner did I criticize you or your contribution. I was mistaken about no audio (It had been a while since I last used AutoGK), however I still feel that the second part of my reply may hold a solution.

@jppl2000

Hi!I have a large mpeg, which when played is good hd quality and has audio.I'm guessing that you created this original HD video including an audiostream in a format that can't be processed by AutoGK.

By all means, do as "BigDid" has suggested and load the original file into GSpot and post a screencapture back here...

The mpeg that converted into a no-sound avi.....I have transferred to another computer and I am running it thru autogk now. Another mpeg, hd quality, identical scenario, I am now working with on the vista computer. I will save the autogk log file for viewing when the process completes. Thank you for your input and advice.

That is the guess/question that I would like to know. My older computer has been successfully running autogk. I have over time installed various video apps and or codecs to assist on the older machine. The older computer must/may have something the vista machine does not. I would very much like to know. I am running autogk on both computers right now....with similar/identical mpeg files created on the vista computer.....hoping that an answer will appear..........Thanks.

The conversion failed this time on the vista computer........a window opened with the message like avi conversion denied.

An avi file did result.....also without audio.

Here is the log.

@jppl2000Huh? You don't know what audio format you used when you originally created this HD MPEG video?

Once again:

By all means, do as "BigDid" has suggested and load the original file into GSpot and post a screencapture back here...

I am using BeyondTV software to record from an HDHomerun Silicon Dust HDTV tuner. All the settings for the BeyondTV in the vista computer are identical to the settings in the older computer that works perfect. The only recording option in BeyondTV, right now anyway, is mpeg-2 transport stream.

Thanks,

Hi,

So, we have a source with:
- video being .mpg
- audio being .ac3
1/ Please verify that the agk_tmp folder contains a .ac3 file and check if it's length is equal to the source movie length (reflecting my last bad experience with a bizarre audio from a tv capture). Use Gspot or mediainfo on the source mpg file AND on the the source audio file.
2/ Also check that the agk_tmp folder contains a .mp3 file; for an auto process, resulting file below 1cd should be a 128 ABR (near 128 usually less) mp3 (see tutorial).
/!\ If you have a valid mp3 file in the agk_tmp folder but not in the final avi there is a workaround to include (mux) this particular audio inside your final avi (see AutoGK More FAQ 2.14 for some explanation).

Viewing your log, I see that the audio should have been encoded and all was ok until failing during the 2nd pass.
3/ If you run the source mpg file (with mplayerC or other player) do you hear the audio? if yes you don't need ac3 filter; if no you can install it without fear.

4/At this point you can try a few things
- check if AutoGK or your system is unstable by encoding other and different sources like dvd...
- check if your source is reliable by using another all in one app like handbrake or avidemux to see if you can get the audio included
/!\ I often have problems with mpg/vob sources (tv captures) not recognized by DGIndex which stops processing. My workaround is to open the problematic file with avidemux and resave it as another mpg file using copy video , copy audio, format being mpeg (PS).

5/ Seeing your file pending approval (it may pend for 24hours or more) please upload to a file/image internet hosting, see here for choices:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96362

Awaiting for your source file infos and let us know what are your progress.

Sorry I don't have access to imageshack at work, I will have to wait going back home in a few hours.

If the mp3 audio is valid (verify by listening and the length being equal to the video length) you can use Vdubmod to mux it. Tell us if you want to try it and if you need some directions...

The mp3 audio is complete, from beginning to end. I also tried handbrake........which worked very well........I got sound and size was perfect.

I would be interested in knowing how to use Vdubmod......I would like to try it.

Hi again,

Glad to know your source is ok, but sorry to learn AGK seems to have problems.

Handbrake is fine but ... has not many options :rolleyes:

For virtualDubmod (VDM):
- Use the one installed with AGK 1.5.4.1 (open)
- Drag and drop your final avi file on it
- Infos are within File/File informations menu
- Use stream/streamlist menu
* If you have one stream available (should not happen), click disable
* If you have no stream (should happen), click add, select the mp3 audio in the relative directory and confirm
/!\ If you have a warning about improper VBR audio, ignore it by clicking no then click OK.
- Use File/file informations to verify you have a video stream AND an audio stream of same (or nearly same) duration
- Use File/Save as menu
- In video/video mode select "Direct stream copy"
- Give a name to your new file and SAVE.

You should be done :)

Did

Edit: Give AutoGK another chance; uninstall properly AGK and also any other codec pack on the Vista system. Clean the registry and re-install only AutoGK. Test again; it could be good...

I uninstalled autogk, codecs, and cleaned up the registry. I reinstalled autogk and selected an mpeg to reduce to an avi. It did not make it thru autogk. It stopped on virtual dub with a message....virtual dub error.....avi output...access is denied. Help..

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time. I have asked previously to change source type and test some dvd source...
Please try it so if DVD source is ok, it may be related to AGK AND a Mpeg source and/or specific ac3 inside that mpeg source.

That kind of error may have already happen, but I have no clue atm, I will try to search for something related; any takers in the meanwhile?
