Is there a way to convert 5.1 wma10 audio to 5.1 ac3 or dts during playback? My new Onkyo 607 reciever doesn't have 5.1 analog inputs and it doesn't decode wma-audio. I have tried ac3filter and ffdshow but they don't seem to support wma10.

If playing back on windows, it should convert to pcm before it sends it to your amp via hdmi. Unless you don't have hdmi out on your computer?

No HDMI:
LPCM could then be fed into AC3Filter and converted to AC3.

I have hdmi out, but my video card can't send audio through hdmi. When I tried ac3filter it only recognized the audio as stereo. Works just fine with 5.1 aac audio. Guess I have to buy a new video card. I'm waiting for the new nvidia cards that can send hd audio though.

Are you sure you didn't have ac3filter set to change it to stereo? There is an "as is", that will leave it unmolested.

I've put ac3filter behind madflac and it worked converting LPCM to ac3. wma 5.1 should be no different just a different filter doing the decoding instead of madflac.

The DMO M$ decoder downmix to stereo by default. Try with AviSynth DirectShowSource method or with dshow2wav (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=141441)
