help, calculate bitrate coding with megui & x264

hi, i was already looking for manuals about how to code with this codec and this gui, but i m wondering if there is any way to choose the most perfect bitrate according the settings you put on the codec, like one program called ar calculator, depending your settings and RESOLUTION, it selects the best bitrate for the video, is there anything like that on the megui program? or if i have to use an external program what could it be? i know megui has its own bitrate calculator but, what does it base on? it doesnt even ask you for resolution, thank you

Megui bitrate calculator is based, to simply resume without taking overhead in count, on the formula :
bitrate = size / time
I think you're asking for a compressibility test? There is not that in Megui.

I know it's taken overhead in count! It's just an history of ',...,' instead of (...) or maybe the Good sentence : '...without SPEAKING overhead...' :)

compressibility test? i never thought it was called like that, i used to use arcalculator for such a task, but that was long time ago when x264 didnt come witch megui, currently, is there any program for such a purpose? thanks

crf=Constant Rate Factor (Constant Quality)
Main Window: Encoder Settings -> Button "Config."
Modes: "Constant Quality"
Quality: I use about 18-20 with an actual x264, depends on the source and the required/prefered and suggested size.

You'll get what you set: A Constant Quality but you don't know what size you'll exactly get. After about 200 Encodes I'm still surprised sometimes, how big or small the result is ;)

Just search for the option (here or in google...).

Hi. I really surpriseв about NO ANY GOOD bitrate calculator!
Every man knows about 4% of bitrate needs to multiplex audio & video streams, but no any bitrate calculator let to enter this percent to calculations and I need to count it at Windows сalculator or to write Excel formulas. Do anybody knows REALLY good bitrate calculator?

What I need:

Time: (hours) (minutes) (seconds) (frames - not a REALLY required parametre)
Disk size (in bytes or any disk formats for choice)
Audio bitrate 1 (kbps)
Audio bitrate 2 (kbps)
Audio bitrate 3 (kbps)
Subtitles bitrate (not a REALLY required parametre)
"Admissible error" or "Additional data" (in percents, may be with decimals here I will write "3.5%"-"4%")
Video Kilobit is (1000 or 1024 bits)
Audio Kilobit is (1000 or 1024 bits)


And program will count the VIDEO BITRATE.


And there is NO any program founded by me. ((( Only this: http://brcg.narod.ru/dvdbrc.zip but it can count ONLY DVD bitrates (not more than 9800mBits).

My AVCHDCalculator is the only available calculator to calculate the bitrate. Just enter the result in your encoder. Overhead is already subtracted in the result. In most cases my result is 7,91/7,92 out of 7,94 GB.

1. Can you add Hours&Minutes enter fields? Of course I can calculate it at OTHER calculator, but i can calculate everything but trying to find calculator, that can do it for me. If somebody wants to enter in seconds, he can write ONLY seconds, leave other fields clean.

2. Sometimes i want to enter custom disk size (may be part of it i want to leave for menus or other things).

3. Add, please "Calculate" button or make calculations on value change. Because somebody (and I, at the first moment) was afraid to press ENTER after entering "Running time", because I think that program will close on it.

4. I tryed it and it calculates very good!

After my next release of AVCHDCoder I will upgrade AVCHDCalculator.

1. For now you can "open" a videofile and the video duration will be entered in seconds.

2. Will be added in the next version. What kind of "other things" do you mean?

3. The calculator already works on value change. I can add a Calculate button but I think it is useless. Need to rethink about it.

4. Nice to see that you are satisfied with the first results :)

1. I have no video to open because i render from Adobe Premiere timeline and some times want to calculate bitrate before starting frameserving video.
2. Sometimes there are 2 timelines, and size of 1 of it i knows, and i want to calculate the second timeline bitrate. For example, first of all i render 1-3 minutes BONUS timeline (with crf, because i do not need high quality for it) and other space on the disk i enter to bitrate calculator.
3. Bitrate recalculates not on the fly. I need to tap ENTER after entering the "Running time". Best of all is to recalculate bitrate during entering the value. If it is impossible, the CALCULATE button IMHO will give some satisfaction after entering all values. )))
May be I am not right.

Look at my work.
I start program.
I choose disk, audio stream, enter Running Time and trying to click mouse to free space of the program windows to clear a cursor from Running Time inputbox. But nothing happened and Bitrate shows previons calculations. Then i tried to find something like CALCULATE button, but did not found it. Then i tryed to click on DISK1 parametre, and THEN my bitrate was shown. NOW i know, that i was need to tap Enter, but it was not transparent for me.


5. Now i found the fifth point!!! I am VERY wants to see previous results, when i started program again!!! (Now, when i writes "I", I think many other people will think like me.)
And at most times I do not want to enter Audio bitrate again (i work, for example, only with 192kb), but every start program tryes to set DTS1536 and Run time to 5*625seconds. )))
