XviD Encraw error

I've been using MeGUI 0.3.1.1051 for a while now.

Just last week, I upgraded AviSynth to 2.6.0 from the 2.5.8 build...and I developed problems. So I uninstalled 6 and went back to 5.8.

Now, I'm trying to encode a movie, and I get this error.

I have it UNCHECKED... and yet NOW I can't even encode in Xvid or x264 via MeGUI ... can ANYONE help me please....I'm really desperate about it. Thx.

Try uninstalling/reinstalling megui

Add kurtnoise's server to the list in the options so you can update to the newer version 0.3.1.1056

Uninstall Avisynth and MeGUI, delete everything from the plugins folder and the MeGUI root folder, uninstall all codec packs (start fresh with just Haali's Splitter, ffdshow-tryouts, and other known good tools frequently discussed here).

Reinstall latest stable Avisynth, reinstall latest stable MeGUI from SourceForge, force update on all components.

Try a test encode from a known good source (e.g., original DVD).

you can try ccleaner

also your screenshot shows older megui version, but you mentioned you updated?

1056 i upgraded to...but nothing ELSE updates to the latest version...i'm still stuck on an OLDER x264 codec as well...

if i use 1051 (which i have now again, after uninstalling 1056) then everything updates to when 1051 was FIRST stable...i don't get it. i KNOW there are updated x264 releases, but it never goes to update.

have NO idea why. and IF i install 1051, which i did last, then it doesn't even SEE the 1056!!!

Steps I am just now undertaking.

Downloaded ccleaner.
Then will UNINSTALL Avisynth, MeGUI, delete everything from those folders,
Run ccleaner to completely clean out that junk.

My plugins folder have already been moved to a .rar package so I can use them later.
After Avisynth & MeGUI have been re-installed, will attempt to run a simple encode.

Did you add kurtnoise's server to the server list? See above.

at present, have uninstalled everything & cleaned via ccleaner. now will restart the computer BEFORE i install

no plugins.rar will be unpacked at this time to my plugins-folder...will run a simple encode to see if THAT works...

I think the only filter I autoload is limitedsharpenfaster. That's it. But when I began my encode for WHICH THIS THREAD was created,

I used:

that's it. I've done this MANY times before with no problems.
and if i try to encode to x264 i get "x264.exe has stopped working".

As poisondeathray said - if you are using *.1056, you have to stick to kurtnoises server only - if that update fail, don't use anything from the megui.org side, most of the files you will get on your HD via that server are most propably not suited for the newest megui core.
... or switch back to *.1051 (wich is the latest core you will get from the megui.org/stable side), for that you can use the default server to get the additional files.

HOWEVER, even after a simple RESIZE script, encoding still stalls with the same error.

Maybe try to encode with xvid vfw in vdub => is there error too ? ie. are you certain it is limited to megui and xvid encraw, not some other system problem like overheating, memory etc...

xvid-encraw also crashes from command line (CMD) if that's what you are talking about.

Hi, you must specify an input and a output if you want to test your Xvid_encraw!

That's likely to be bad input. If I run xvid encraw with no options, it crashes in the same way looking for input. If I run it by appending /?, then it prints standard help and is OK. Therefore you should suspect that AVISource() is not working correctly, indicating a VFW filter problem.

You have a broken VFW filter on your system. You need to find out what it is. Uninstall all non-native Windows codecs and install ffdshow with the VFW decoder enabled.

What format is your avi file? i.e. What video compression? Use mediainfo if you don't know. Do you have that enabled in the ffdshow vfw configuration (gold icon)?

Did you test that same .avs script in vdub, and encode using xvid vfw there? If it works, your AVISource() or VFW decoders should be functioning properly.

Try a directshowsource instead of avisource. If it does work I think that will confirm you have a broken filter or else bad thing.

avi format is LAGARITH lossless. never had a problem with this before. i just now opened another dvd9, ran a d2v, cropped resized and ran a simple encode...still crashes.

Maybe I'm totally wrong but it crashes before the message 'input color space is yv12'...so have you yv12 vfw installed?

Yes I beleive you are correct, it crashes before that would appear in the MEGUI log

Hmm...no congratulations to me...I think I'm wrong about that: I took a look at gspot, it appears no codec is needed to decode yv12.
I'm a common user, not an expert but it seems that's not the problem...or a strange thing happens between Avisynth and Xvidencraw...
Have you try directly the avi as input?

You can something else for now e.g. vdub to encode xvid or some other GUI

These guides are old, if you are using a newer version of vdub ~ 1.9.5 or so, instead of checkmarking "don't run this job now" , you do file=>queue batch operation=>save as avi . And you should use "fast recompress" instead of "full processing mode"

Any error message?

This suggests something else wrong with your setup, not megui or vdub.

ie. either your hardware, avisynth, vfw filters

I would start by ruling out hardware issues first, check your temps under load (e.g. coretemp, realtemp), run memtest, prime95, occt etc...

Can you play the .avs script in MPC for example?

avs plays fine in mpc...temps / hardware are all fine.

i'm no expert on avisynth or vfw filters...but i'm pretty SURE it has something to do with it. the crashes happened AFTER i upgraded to avisynth 2.6 from 2.5.8...i did uninstall 2.6 and went back to 2.5.8 - and the crashes continued. so the problem lies there somewhere.

Did you try MatLz's suggestion?

DirectShowSource("video.avi")

This would use directshow instead of VFW, and help to narrow down the problem
