I'll report the result which I examined about AIscanner of AnyDVD, especially about the differense of "auto" and "enable".
I think there are similar things; AIscanner of AnyDVD and PathPlayer of DVDFab.
Both have setting; automatic, always enable, and disable,
and it is shown that which cell is recognized as unplayable by log file(AIscanner) and info(PathPlayer).
I think PathPlayer is simple. When BadSector protection, output of auto and enable, and reconized unplayable cell in info is same.
But AIscanner is strange. When BadSector protection, output of auto and enable is different. Recognized unplayable cell in log file is same as output of enable, but not auto.
When enable, sometimes there is the problem which playable cell is mis-recognized as unplayable. Recent example is "Underdog" of Disney.
So I was going to examine about the differense of "auto" and "enable" of AIscanner of AnyDVD.
The result is that ;
*Below is same when "auto" and "enable". (removed or replaced by dummy, if recognized as unplayable in log file.)
---PGC which is recognized as bogus titlesets.
---PGC which is recognized as unused titlesets.
---PGCs of VTS which has BadSector.
*Others are untouched when "auto", and replaced by dummy only when "enable". (even if recognized as unplayable in log file.)
*Processed like below in each case.
---bogus titlesets or unused titlesets.
------=>PGC is replaced by single cell of 0.15sec.
---cells which have BadSector.
------=>removed. around tiny cells which are not recognized as unplayable in log file are removed, too.
---somel cells of PGC are recognize as unplayable.
------=>replaced by remaining cell (but time is 0.15sec).
---all cells of PGC are recognize as unplayable.
------=>replaced by cell of 0sec. (if there reamins playable cell, use it.)
It seems not to have the problem when setting "auto", evin if AIscanner mis-recognize as unplayable.
I think it is the reason why recommended to set "auto".
