I have a video .ts file that plays excpetionally with mpc but the audio.
The audio of the file is ac3.
Audio
ID : 4352 (0x1100)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Duration : 2h 30mn
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 384 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Video delay : -120ms
Stream size : 412 MiB (3%)

I have the ac3 filter installed. Should I check or uncheck anything in MPC options to make it use the proper audio filter and play the audio as well as the video?
Thanks.
My MPC version is 6.4.9.0. The ac3 filter is version 1.09a.
In device manager under Audio codecs I have Ac3filter acm codec enabled.

try unistalling MPC, ac3filter and all codecs
and install the newest k-lite codec pack standart.

Your codecs are very old

No, don't use a codec pack. Better to know what's going on with your system then trust blindly. Get the latest MPC (guliverkli2) or MPC-HC and check the built-in AC3 decoder filter (not the source filter, although that's OK too). Make sure the built-in TS splitter is also checked. Set the built-in AC3 decoder to downmix to stereo, PCM 16 bit. Now try playing it and seeing if you can hear it.

A pack will automatically configure everything for you. No need to waste your time trying to figure everything out yourself.
